Band Information

When SADE first began in the 80's there were four members of the band...

From left to right: (STUART MATTHWMAN, SADE ADU, ANDREW HALE AND PAUL S DENMAN)

Sade sang, Stuart played sax and guitar, Andrew played keyboards and Paul played bass. Their music was jazz. Other musicians appeared in their videos and on tour with them but i'm not sure if these were members or friends and anyway I don't know their names.

Very moody and at times very sad, the music accompanied by Sade's soft, clear voice gave you a reality check on the spot. The music was serious yet cool and relaxed. It told stories of love. It's ironies and gains.

It could be slow or fast either way it was excellent. It was a vibe.

Sade herself seemed to have a regal quality yet came across humble, kind, understanding and reserved. She was so elegant and thoughtful. There was no front. She could have been royalty but her qualities far outweighed those of any royalty. She was in a league of her own. Her voice was so real, so expressive, so clear and she was and is naturally beautiful. Her inner beauty revealed itself through her gentle refined nature.

The musicians of SADE were and are very talented musicians. They had a vibe. I regret never having seen a single SADE concert live. It would have been an experience. All i've got are a couple videos and childhood memories of watching Top of the Pops. But hey that's life!

SADE have now "split-up", well for a few years now. I don't know if SADE is still singing but if she reads this "keep going girl!". The other members of the band have reformed minus one forming SWEETBACK.

I recommend it to any people out there with any interest at all in the original band. Many vocalists are featured including Amel Larrieux of Groove Theory fame as well as other musicians.
